WINDOW
Includes a new tinted DOT approved plastic window that is sewn-in for added durability. It is non-zippered.
TOPPING MATERIAL
Manufactured using premium original British Everflex Vinyl imported from Europe for that original look and feel. This is the same weight and grain found on the original Jaguar convertible tops.
If you are looking for the exact OEM original replacement style convertible top for your 1961-1971 Jaguar E-Type XKE, this is the top you want. We do not use substitute vinyl topping material and offer the highest quality available and a terrific price.
BRITISH EVERFLEX VINYL is the original topping material for the 1961 through 1971 Jaguar E Type XKE. Imported from England, this Everflex is a supple vinyl with a rich appearance and is laminated on gray or tan backings. This material was also the original for Rolls Royce and other English convertibles. Though its popularity has greatly decreased for new vehicles, it is still manufactured for restorers. The material is similar to the vinyl used on most vehicles but is more durable and more expensive. On hardtop vehicles, fabric is placed below the Everflex material to add weight and body, often making the car look more like a genuine convertible. On older vehicles, a fabric called "Union Cloth" was used, but it quickly deteriorates; trapping water and damaging the Everflex material and roof. The Everflex is glued down and can be screwed in around doors and windows. Three notable car companies who used Everflex material are Jaguar, Rolls Royce and Bentley.
PLASTIC WINDOWS are manufactured from press polished sheets of thermoplastic vinyl material with a highly polished finish to form a flexible, press polished sheet. Meets or exceeds the material requirements of the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the American National Standards (ANSI) Code for safety glazing materials for motor vehicles operating on land and highways (Z26.1), including luminous transmittance (Test #2), chemical resistance (Test #19, 20), flammability (Test #23) and weathering (Test #16). Additionally, Regalite and Ultralite® BUV sheets meet MIL-Spec P-18080A (ships), United States FMVSS 205 and Canadian CMVSS 205. We also meet ECE performance requirements for the EU market.
